Swedish research partners and civil society

We are involved in various local collaborations when it comes to particular events and activities, or in more long-term joint efforts. The Nordic Africa Institute is a continuous partner and resource with which the Forum is working together. Recently, we organized two double panels at the Nordic Africa Days with invited speakers from the continent. The Forum collaborates with Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, notably in its work in Mali, particularly because Prof. Sten Hagberg is Associate Senior Fellow at SIPRI.

We also collaborate with Uppsala RFSL, notably the Uppsala Festival Welcome Out. Over the years the specific focus on Burkina Faso has involved film screenings, thematic days, and individual lectures and workshops. One Swedish partner in that respect is the Association d'Amitié Burkina Faso-Suède, another is the Friendship Group for Africa Film in Uppsala.

A very fruitul collaboration has been developed with the daily Upsala Nya Tidning. Well-attended panel conversations in the Aula Magna have been hosted on topics like Afrophobia, Afro-Swedish histories, and why racist organisations are allowed in Sweden.
