Education Exchange, and Student Mobility

Forum for Africa Studies is involved in staff and student mobility with different African universities. We support ongoing collaboration with African universities through the Internationalisation Division of Uppsala University, as well as facilitated other forms of staff and student exchange, including the Southern Africa-Nordic Network (SANORD) and the South Africa-Sweden University Forum.

Recent staff and student exchange projects include the ERASMUS+ project in anthropology and development studies with Nazi Boni University in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, and the Linnaeus-Palme project in rhetorics with the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

In June 2019, Uppsala University obtained an ERASMUS+ grant with Nazi Boni University (Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso) over the period 2019-22.

In June 2019, Prof. Sten Hagberg participated in two PhD theses defences (Almamy Sylla and N'gna Traoré) at the University of Bamako, Mali. Here he stands with Prof. Yaouaga Félix Koné, and Associate Prof. Ludovic Kibora in front of the new University campus at Kabala

Prof. Patrice Toé, Vice President of the Nazi BONI University, Burkina Faso, visited Uppsala University in order to set-up our joint student and staff mobilities. During his stay, Prof. Toé also met with Prof. Anna Singer, pro-Vice Rector of the Humanities and Social Sciences at Uppsala University.

In February 2019, Prof. Sten Hagberg gave a seminar series for the master students in anthropology at the El Manar University of Tunis.

A collaboration in rhetorics with the University of Cape Coast is flourishing. In April 2018, Eric Opoku Mensah gave a paper entitled "Let my People Go! Kwame Nkrumah’s Rhetoric of Resistance in the Motion of Independence in the Gold Coast" at the Friday Seminar
