Other International Collaborations

The Forum is member of AEGIS - a network of excellence made up of Europe-based member institutions involved in research and higher education on and in Africa, and African Studies. We are also engaged in the Guild-ARUA collaboration Strengthening African Knowledge Society.

We collaborate with scholarly associations like the Mande Studies Association (MANSA), an international scholarly network of people working in West Africa. The Eleventh International Mande Studies Association's conference was hosted through webinar mode by the Forum for Africa Studies in June 2021. The Forum has furthermore a longstanding collaboration with the Association for the Anthropology of Social Change and Development (APAD).

The Forum for Africa Studies is supporting the Southern Africa-Nordic Centre (SANORD), a university network. We led the organization of SANORD's conference in September 2016 on Beyond New Public Management. Next SANORD Conference will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, 4-6 December 2024.

The Forum for Africa Studies hosted a panel on Ethnographies of Security and Democracy in August 2017 with speakers from Mali and Burkina Faso.
