Health, Politics and Culture in Africa

Since 2015, the Forum for Africa Studies leads a strategic project on Health, Politics, and Culture in Africa. It aims ro explore the interface of medical sciences, humanities and social sciences at Uppsala University, and also in collaborative works in relation to African partners and institutions.

The project is funded by Vice-Chancellor's strategic funding until 2020. The project has led to joint research applications, and workshops, as well as a concrete project (Population Dynamics and Socioeconomic Wellbeing) in the Sweden-Mozambique research partnership.

Currently, the Health, Politcs, and Culture in Africa project is coordinated by Dr Ulrika Trovalla. Scientific leaders are Prof. Sten Hagberg, and Prof. Brigitta Essén.

A recent publication supported by the project is Female Genital Cutting: The Global North and South (ed.) S. Johnsdotter, 2020. Malmö University.
