The Diabetes Epidemic in Africa: Can interdisciplinary approaches deliver innovative solutions?

On November 24, 2015, Forum for Africa Studies hosted its first studentpub, in collaboration with VG nation. Its purpose was to invite students to participate in an interdisciplinary discussion of the challenges associated with responding to the increase prevalence of non-communicable diseases in Africa. Dr. Meena Daivadanam (Dept. of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics) and Dr. Eren Zink (Dept. of Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology) introduced the topic and gave a brief perspective from their respective disciplines, whereafter students engaged with a case study in groups. Approximately 25 students and faculty from many different disciplines attended.
