On Tuesday, September 13th from 10:00 - 12:00 the Forum for Africa Studies together with the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health organized a research/writing workshop led by Dr. Carla Braga, Medical Anthropologist at Eduardo Mondlane University.
Eleven participants joined Dr. Braga at the workshop to contribute interdisciplinary perspectives on two articles in production. Participants were from the Department of Women's and Children's Health, the Department of Food, Nutrition and Dietics, the Center for Gender Research, and the Department of Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology. This workshop is part of the ongoing Health, Politics and Culture in Africa project at the Forum for Africa Studies.
Dr. Braga is a Guest Researcher at the Forum for Africa Studies and Dept. of Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology, Uppsala University. She has carried out extensive research on HIV, biomedicine, and gender in Mozambique. Her PhD dissertation was entitled “Death is Destiny”: Sovereign Decisions and the Lived Experience of HIV/AIDS and Biomedical Treatment in Central Mozambique (2012, State University of New York, USA).
