Out of Algeria: Mediterranean Hospitality in the Feminine
On 15th December, 2015, Forum for Africa Studies in collaboration with the English Department hosted Dr Lindsey Moore, senior lecturer at Lancaster University. Dr Moore is the author of Arab, Muslim, Woman: Voice and Vision in Postcolonial Literature and Film (2008) and co-editor of the recent volume Islamism and Cultural Expression in the Arab World (2015). Her talk, "Out of Algeria: Mediterranean Hospitality in the Feminine,” discussed Mediterranean crossings, immigration and reformulations of hospitality in the work of Sansal Boualem, Asia Djebar and Albert Camus. The talk was attended by students, lecturers, and researchers from the English and French departments, and from the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study.
